Updated Course Outline

ABAIM Artificial Intelligence in Medicine — Introductory Mini Course

India Edition · Four-Hour Condensed Curriculum
Adapted from the 14-hour ABAIM Introductory Course, this mini course preserves the core architecture of the full curriculum while focusing on momentum, clinical relevance, and India-contextualised AI adoption.

What participants should expect: concepts over mathematics, intuition first, equations optional; a compressed four-part arc covering foundations, data science, applications, and future readiness; expanded focus on generative and agentic AI; and India contextualisation across ABDM, digital health infrastructure, ICMR guidance, and resource-constrained deployment.
40 min

1. Foundations of AI

Definitions that survive the hype, AI/ML/deep learning terminology, history of AI in medicine, and why medicine can no longer lag behind.

60 min

2. Data Science, Machine & Deep Learning

Healthcare data, supervised/unsupervised/reinforcement learning, neural networks, CNNs, AUC, sensitivity, specificity, PPV, calibration, and external validation.

40 min

3. Generative AI, LLMs & Agentic AI

Transformers, large language models, prompting for clinical work, hallucination, grounding, retrieval-augmented generation, and the move from chatbots to agents.

35 min

4. Clinician Cognition & Clinical Applications

The clinician–AI dyad, cognitive bias, automation bias, deskilling, and a lightning tour across radiology, cardiology, pathology, ophthalmology, critical care, and operations.

30 min

5. Implementation, Ethics & Governance

Bias, equity, validation, FDA SaMD paradigm, EU AI Act, ABDM, ICMR ethical guidance, algorithmovigilance, and what an AI-ready hospital looks like.

15 min

Road Ahead + Q&A

Multimodal foundation models, digital twins, ambient intelligence, open discussion, and next steps toward the full ABAIM educational certification pathway.

Four-Hour Schedule

Condensed, high-yield learning arc

Each section is designed to make participants conversational in AI, curious for more, and clear on the path toward deeper ABAIM certification.
